A packing list for camping with your dog

7/27/2020

This past weekend, we tent-camped with some friends and their pup, and it was our first time camping with Rosie. She was of course really excited about exploring the area and hanging out with her dog-buddy Hoxton, and we were really proud of how she managed with the brand-new experience. A lot of it comes down to Rosie's personality and the training we've done with her, but I really think that the supplies I brought along for her made a big difference. So I thought I’d share the list in case it helps anyone else who’s planning a trip!
⁣
Here’s what we brought along for our little pup scout:
• harness with an ID tag attached
• collar with an ID tag attached
• regular leash
• long leash
• two climbing-strength carabiners
• I wore a fanny pack with an attachment point for a leash and stocked with treats
• water bowl
• pre-measured meals in zip lock bags (meals were scatter-fed on the ground)
• first aid kit
• tick remover
• paw salve

• 3 stuffed Kongs
• high-value chew bone
• large stash of medium-value treats
• ham-flavored cheese in a tube
• unopened can of high-value wet food in case of emergency
• towel (for drying and for a place to lay down and chill)
• favorite toy
